One of the most highly anticipated events during New York Fashion Week this September was no doubt the debut of Zac Posen’s new diffusion line Z Spoke. Now that his exclusive distribution agreement with Saks Fifth Avenue has ended, Posen will finally be free to join the ranks of other major fashion houses that have had successful diffusion lines for some time now. And from what we saw on the runway, it looks like Posen has been carefully taking notes on the competition—who is perhaps most directly Marc by Marc Jacobs and See by Chloé—and is prepared to give them a veritable run for their money come Spring 2011.
Z Spoke certainly continues in the tradition of the aforementioned diffusion lines with the use of bright color and daring designs that will no doubt be appealing to younger clientele. Colorful wing-framed glasses and boxy handbags supplied a retro feel strikingly reminiscent of Marc by Marc Jacobs.
