Steps away from fashion’s glassy beehive, the rooftop at the Empire hotel is one steep looker of a joint. Wednesday night, the très glamourous terrasse was taken over by Jordana and Sergio D’Larosa, the masterminds behind the Untapped events that have been rocking New York, LA and Miami’s arts and fashion scenes in the last three years. The duo holds dear the concept of bringing an array of different talents together, so that one art form can inform the other, so that all artists can get to support each other’s industry in this slightly unfriendly economy of ours – and have a blast doing it.
Last night’s event, their biggest to date, brought together an eclectic mélange of Creators-at-large. Designers abounded – from veteran Carolina Herrera to newcomer leathersmith Melanie Mueller of Mel Boteri custom fashion pieces (it’s a sort of Handbag-On-Demand for the original thinker-glamazon, you pick and choose all leathers and designs online, the luxurious creation flying to you will be one-of-a-kind).
