Timo Weiland- Hip, casual and very ready to wear.

Timo Weiland has set the paradigm for East Coast meets West Coast fashion at their presentation at The Box at Lincoln Center Sunday morning. With a fresh take on two very different styles; Timo Weiland intertwined them flawlessly into a collection that is as wearable as it is well-constructed, and hip as it is an homage to fashion classics.

Some of the collection’s highlights included a blood orange sports jacket, with the cuffs rolled up, a pair of red, sequined sunglasses, complete with a sparkling chain draping gracefully from the frames, and a multicolored jumpsuit to which the Editor in Chief, Alexis Wolfer, of beauty website, The Beauty Bean, exclaimed, “How and where can I get that right now?” These choices; a bold color palette, beautiful, yet sometimes avant-garde accessories, and new takes on old classics, were the cornerstone of a sexy, yet sporty, rather exciting, seaside inspired collection. Another notable of the presentation was Timo’s beautiful menswear. We have seen color blocking in men’s fashion for a few seasons now, but this collection’s use of the technique in the menswear pieces was extra special; one of the obvious signs that while designing this collection, Timo was acutely aware of the details that would turn an excellent collection into an extraordinary collection. Half-calf high striped socks, and patterned canvas loafers, and all men adorned with glasses that were playful doppelgangers of Timo’s own, polished off the men’s looks. It was preppy and sophisticated, surfer chic that would serve any fashion-forward, gentleman well.

Not to be outdone by the men, the women’s pieces were a juxtaposition of whimsy and structure, some pieces very feminine, others very athletic, creating essentially, something for all young fashionistas. Neutral-colored socks in tandem with heels were one of the primary examples of playing with the idea of femininity and function; and Timo’s use of strong prints and bold colors for women’s wear has also served him well yet again this season.
