come out with a new CD, you’re going to want to have major hotels embrace it and play it in their lobbies, have ,movie production houses use it in their films, even partnering up with the discount stores just like a lot of fashion designers like Zac Posen and Karl Lagerfeld for instance have done in taking their couture label and image and making it accessible to a wider public. Ultimately it’s about giving your product value, cultural relevance and an identity that fits into a greater majorities lifestyle choices, no matter how good the song or product is.

SCV: What are some of the constraints you see in the industry?

MB: It’s over saturated and every day someone new rocks up who wants to be a movie star and the reality is not everyone can be a star, and whether you realize it or not who ends up becoming that household name has got a lot to do with the execution of your brand’s image and the product into the market place. I’d say to any aspiring artist before you decide on becoming the next big thing is how do you intend to distribute your body of work and what channels are available that you can possibly maximize.

SCV; What channels are there?

MB: Well the obvious ones are reality shows, creating digital video and making alliances with entities that have a cultural legacy or name branding to begin with that people immediately identify with.

SCV: So where to from here?

MB: I’m entering into new ventures to bring out new content, labels, tied to entertainment and feeding into merchandizing opportunities.

SCV: If I got on the phone with one of the artists that you’ve worked with in the past, what would they say about you?

MB: That I’m pretty real. That I hope they would say I am stand up guy, with my nose to the grinder and that I’m as loyal as they come and that leaving a legacy means a lot to me.

SCV; What legacy would you like to leave?

He once again pauses, scans the embyonic Empire State Building in front of us before responding:

MB: To revolutionize how one becomes a whole sale name and affects the lives of many around them in a positive way.

SCV: Think you can do it?

MB; Well, I’m betting on it.
