Every designer wants their runway show to leave an impression on the audience, editors, and buyers.  Done correctly, a cohesive range of silhouettes, hues, and fabrics are to translate into the LOOK.  Gottex’s look is Glamazon – Ursula Andrews luring 007’s attention from her yacht in St. Tropez.  Looks are fantasies that help sell, but a swimsuit line has the additional onus of having to calibrate proportions for a range of body types that will accentuate, disguise, and put a woman’s fear at ease.

In swimwear, scale and proportion comes first. Period!!

Gottex’s designer, Molly Grad, should be applauded for pushing new fabric and material combinations season after season.   Spring 2011 has ruched and foiled metallic lycras paired with embellishments of lucite, rock crystals, resins, and hammered titanium metals.  Fabric and flattering colors aside, the 44 looks that came down the runway, leaves one questioning Grad’s control of proportion.
