The beautiful sheer tiered dresses with long, floor-grazing hemlines and muted floral accents might tempt some to immediately stick on a boho chic label. However, I think assessment is too quick. Binetti’s work is clearly much more sophisticated than what we saw commonly in the late 1960’s/early 1970’s—the work here looks something closer to evening gowns of the 1920’s. In fact the entire collection seems to evoke images reminiscent of a 1920’s Daisy strutting gracefully from room to room in Gatsby’s mansion admiring his myriad of treasures. (Naturally this vision also includes the famous scene where Daisy weeps hysterically because of Gatsby’s beautiful shirts, but in our version she is weeping because of how beautiful her own Binetti dress is, of course!). This would also only be appropriate too, given that it would be a continuation of the current 1920’s trend just being translated into Spring. Binetti has offered the following remarks on his presentation and the type of woman he envisions designing for: “I design for a woman who owns her domain and has a passion for life.”

“I have a love and devotion that I invest into my work every day which excites me and keeps me going.  I am excited to show in Lincoln Center and think that this season will be a hit for all!”
