Linda McMahon, better half of WWE’s infamous Vince McMahon, and former head of the World Wrestling Federation, has laid the smack down on opponent Rob Simmons in a new arena— politics.
McMahon, who won the primary Connecticut Republican Senate bid, has become a fixture on the talk show circuit this week, taking to the press to say she is qualified and ready to head to the Senate, no matter what a freak show her past looks like. It didn’t hurt that she spent more than $20 million dollars of her own money either.
Huffington Post: As my opponents talked more and more about the WWE and issues that may have been relative to programming content …instead of focusing on the issues, I talked about issues and continued to gain momentum,” McMahon told CNN Wednesday morning. “If my opponents want to talk about soap opera content instead of focusing on issues, I will win again in November.”
Touché, Linda. But again, it still could have something to do with having more than $20 million dollars to spare, so that you could throw yourself in the ring. It is also interesting to point out, that her spending that much money qualified her as being the fourth most lavish self-spender in American congressional campaign history. Now that’s a title that has to hurt if you lose the final Senate election.
Jesse Ventura’s done it, now Linda McMahon. Come on, Hulk Hogan, where are you these days? Jump on the WWE-turned-politico bandwagon. You’re children are off living their own sordid, and rather sad d-list lives; and your ex-wife is engaged to a doppelganger more than half your age. It’s time to get back in the ring, buddy.
