What a hot summer afternoon for the Veuve Cliquot Polo Classic which took place just minutes away from Manhattan, in Governors Island, a quick ferry away, this past Sunday.
This charity event was held in the benefit of Sentebale, founded by Prince Seeiso from the Lesotho Royal family and Prince Harry from the British Royal family for underprivileged children of Lesotho.
Aside from very chic players such as Prince Harrry and Nacho Figueras (Argentinian polo champion face of Ralph Lauren Black Label voted the second most handsome man in the world by the readers of Vanity Fair in 2009), chic hats were de rigueur in order to claim any high society status. However socially discriminating this sport usually is, especially in other parts of the world, all New Yorkers were invited to attend and anyone could attend the game for free. Even the ferry was free!
In a city where breathing seems to have a price tag on it, how refreshing!
Many brought picnic material and were offered the possibility to purchase Veuve Cliquot items. While other VIPs were enjoying their own private area and indulging in champagne and other vip treatment.
Ferrarri, Piaget and the Standard hotel partnered for the event.
