‘Beauty Cares.’ Making a dramatic difference to women victim of domestic violence.

Although the event itself started 6pm that evening, the suite had been considerably busy all day tending to many of the women who have since escaped their significant others and sought refuge in the program called ‘Safe Horizons,’ a safe dominion where women were taken on for a period of 95 days to begin the process of rehabilitation, both physical and emotional. With some of the top make up artists and hairdressers in the city the women were treated to an extensive day where they were allowed to once again reflect on their physical beauty, a beauty that had been mercilessly beaten away at as well tending to counselling that allowed these women to come clean with what they had experienced and to once again find the courage to see their innate intrinsic worth and to essentially find the courage to pick up their shattered lives.

In fact one of the women had earlier reflected the following during the day:

“This [event] meant looking at myself in a different light, seeing my true natural beauty and learning that there is something better for me.”

A surprising fact had this author in momentary shock when told by Joy Munger that 25 percent of the women in emergency rooms in hospitals were there due to incidents of domestic violence, highlighting the wide degree of abuse that many women in society unfortunately have to experience. She then reflected that the cause held a lot of sway for her, as it did for Aryun Quinn, as they were unfortunately exposed to haunting degrees of family dysfunction growing up as children.
