Farah Angsana: Fur and Fuchsia

The line hit several other emerging trends on the nose. Many pieces were accessorized with a thin, black patent belts that wouldn’t look out of place on the shelves of a J. Crew. A few pieces incorporated sheer chiffon in an elegant way, very different from the streetwear sheers we are bound to be see on the streets of the East Village this summer. One red cocktail dress in particular turned heads by featuring  a sheer chiffon train. Designers have stayed away from trains on evening wear for the last few years, but is it time for a resurgence? If so, Farah Angsana is doing it right.

The color palette in this show started with conservative blacks, silvers, and midnight blues, but it became clear by the second half that Angsana has no fear of bright colors. Several gowns and jackets were done in red, fuchsia, and purple chiffon, often with gold details. It’s probably too soon to tell what hues will be hot for next fall, but if Farah Angsana’s collection is any indication, when in doubt, just wear fur. Sorry, PETA.
