Of course, many of his clothes were made for those succulent, starving youths. In fact, the only complaint I have with the collection was that some of the dresses veered away from fresh and youthful and looked oddly childlike. Wide-eyed innocence can have a place on the runway (just ask Abbey Lee Kershaw) but it was out of place amongst the satin blazers and velvet tuxedo pants. Marlene Dietrich may have been wide eyed, but she was far from innocent, darling.

On the whole, though, a stunning collection. Wearable high fashion, accessible glamour and all of it indicative of a career longer and shinier than his closing outfit: a beaded floor length halter dress. Dietrich would approve.
