Renowned Chef, Susur Lee proved yet once again he knows how to prepare delicacies for over 200 stylish guests.  Fashionistas came out of their closets Tuesday night to celebrate Shang’s one year anniversary.  Located on the Lower East Side’s Orchard Street, this modern Asian fusion venue has something for every fashionable New Yorker.  I asked one of the most stylish and always warm – New Yorkers, Heidi Kelso (vintage Rick Owens jacket, Katyone Adeli dress and YSL shoes, who can argue with that?), how she liked the food.  She said, “I loved everything they served, the menu for the night was just amazing.” I had to agree as I chowed into the lamb chops, chicken dumplings and saki shots (I won’t get into the Belvedere Vodka and endless river of champagne provided).

On my way back to the dessert tray (hidden up front near the concierge desk) I bumped into another fashionable New Yorker and author, Anisha Lakhani(black satin reversible Anya Hindmarch clutch – wow, I’m getting good at this fashion reporting), who mentioned she really “liked the jalapeño infused vodka specialty drinks they were serving.” Before I could get in another word, a lady in red spinning 6 plates on sticks bending every which way and even upside down was standing next to us.  I kept looking for the sticky tape at the end of the stick on the place, but she was actually quite remarkable.

I was torn between snapping photos or refueling my vodka cranberry in an open space at an over populated bar.  I decided to do the sensible thing, grab the lovely waitress and order from her while snapping more photos.  My colleague, Paul Joseph Louis Guevara, insisted we have a few more saki shots and then head out to the after party, but not before thanking Chef Lee once more for his hospitality.
