A duo passed: one in a red bowler hat placed at a perfect tilt on a luscious black bob, the other with a luxurious feather dangling playfully above her right ear. They quickly dispersed into the crowd and escaped from my inquisitive pen.
Mark Maurice, of Edward III Liquors, brushed past singing: “You are from the Lower East Side and you think you are from Venus, cut those Emo bangs and your make-up penis.”
Aloof and keenly aware scenesters leaned against the tagged wall of neon verbiage near the bar. Bartenders adorned the likes of a Keith Herring sweatshirt and grey fro streaked with a lightning bolt of white poured endless Belvedere and Bud into the wee hours of the morning.
The crowds thinned and thickened through the early morning, never a dull moment and the beats went on. Crawling into a cab at 5 am, we left this scene from old school New York, inspired, positive, and creatively fueled. There is no question- we anticipate many nights of
enticing and tantalizing tales to come from this cool kids Mecca.
Oh well, if only you were cool enough to have been here…
